Nusura Consulting Inc. is a Black-led, justice-focused firm dedicated to advancing racial equity and disrupting systemic oppression. Our work encompasses research, public education, policy analysis, and community-based interventions, concentrating on Black and racialized individuals affected by institutional harm, especially within the criminal justice, health, and education systems.
Practicum at Nusura: What to Expect
Student placements at Nusura are immersive, relational, and rigorous. Practicum students are invited to participate in ongoing projects where they contribute meaningfully, not as assistants, but as emerging professionals and thought partners.
Depending on current projects and your area of study, practicum activities may include:
- Community-based research and qualitative analysis
- Impact of Race and Culture Assessments (IRCAs)
- Policy review and advocacy strategy development
- Training and curriculum design
- Knowledge translation and report writing
- Program evaluation and justice-centred framework development
You will also engage in critical reflection, collaborative learning, and guided mentorship with staff dedicated to principled, anti-oppressive practices.

We welcome students from diverse academic programs, including social work, criminology, sociology, education, public policy, law, and health sciences. Students should demonstrate:
- A commitment to anti-racism, equity, and systems change
- Curiosity, accountability, and openness to feedback
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Respect for lived experience, community knowledge, and collaborative processes
